Forum: GratefulDead Subject: Re: Well...

...and thank you for your note, Mandojammer.

I actually think there are quite a few conservative voices here, and I never object to hearing points of view other than my own. I completely agree that what's lacking is a tone of respect and thoughtful difference of opinion.

what drives me nuts are the sweeping mean-spirited posts, a la "myreus" or whatever he calls himself, that are so nonsensical and bereft of fairness based on fact as to demand an almost equally invective response. I have to hold myself back from really flying off the handle and I'm not always successful, so I appreciate your qualifying my posts as generally polite and respectful.

It's one thing to disagree about Obama's policies... his plans for taxation or health care...but to say idiotic things like he was "created by the media"--which completely discounts his origins working his way up from the streets of Chicago to the senate to here...and to blame Clinton for Bin Laden....when 9/11 happened on Bush';s watch (and can you imagine the blame that would have been heaped by that same individual had Clinton still been in office when that went down),....it just defies belief.

I just wish we could have reasonable, respectful arguments of differing opinion based on fact rather than hyperbole or thinly veiled prejudice. We'd all enjoy this forum much more and eventually realize that--hey!--we're all here in the first place b/c we actually share a love for the music of the Grateful Dead! That's really the binding factor (or it should be), and shows we're not as far apart as we seem.

anyway, thanks again for reaching out.
